It seems like it might have possibly finally clicked… we had a solid day of using the potty yesterday! Kiddo used it all day (other than when he went for his nap.) Today has been another awesome day where we haven’t had any accidents and he’s used to the potty all day as well 😀
It hasn’t at all been easy but I’ve learned that it will come in time, that if you push too much that potty training can become very negative and very draining VERY quickly but if rewarded with praise (and hot wheels or a treat) it can go fairly smoothly.
What are we doing exactly? Simply letting him run around without pants or a diaper on, the house is warm, and he’s playing as he usually would but when he has to go to the bathroom he runs for his Elmo Potty, afterwards mommy and daddy clap, high five, and then offer a reward. There’s been a few times where my son has been so overjoyed that he’s wanted to tell his Aunty Kat, his Grandma and even his Omi so I’ve called them up and let him shout on the phone “I pee in Elmo Potty! Got a truck too!”
I’m sure there will be bad days along with the good but right now the key will be keeping the progress going and not reverting back to the diaper. Being consistent is going to play a huge role in that which means hopefully Grandma and Omi will understand that he needs to run around their house in the same manner (with his Elmo Potty) so that he learns he can go potty anywhere.
