Coffee… oh Lord how I LOVE my coffee now. Funny thing though, before I became pregnant I never drank it, during my pregnancy I was a good girl and stayed away from caffeine, while I was nursing I made sure to limit myself to one serving (cup) if needed, but after that I went gun ho for the coffee. A lot of people want to bash the whole brewed warm cup of goodness that parents seem to survive off of like air but there ARE some benefits to it, so lets focus on the positive shall we?
If you enjoy a steamy cup of Joe you’re less likely to suffer from type 2 diabetes, Parkinson’s, and dementia. There’s also a high chance in which is being researched that coffee drinkers are less likely to suffer from certain types of cancer… and since everything causes cancer these days I’d say that’s a pretty high positive, you’re also less likely to end up having a stroke or heart attack (which I would also consider a good thing) and hey supposedly now its showing that people who drink coffee LOOK younger (we’ll take what we can get.) So there’s definitely some health benefits behind enjoying a cup. Another great thing? Its full of antioxidants and it isn’t LOADED with calories as long as you’re not flooding it with cream and sugar. Personally I’ve acquired a taste for cold black iced coffee on hot summer days but find one skim milk, one sugar can get me through a tasty cup.
Another great thing? The grounds are amazing to exfoliate your skin with, the caffeine helps circulate blood flow which can give you a smoother look and can also de-puff tired eyes (so scrub up ladies)
I think one of the most important things about coffee though is that its like a faithful and loyal friend giving you a nice big hug in the morning that warms your insides and keeps you from duct taping your children to a chair when you feel like you haven’t had a good nights sleep in years. So here’s to coffee!
